Somewhere between the dead phone at baggage claim and the European outlet that took none of my adapters, I became slightly obsessed with getting the tech side of travel right. These are the products I have put through enough trips to recommend without hesitation. Charged, organized, connected.
Life360 Tile Essentials 4-Pack (Mate/Slim/Sticker)
I put a tracker in my checked bag before every trip where the bag leaves my hands. The Tile Essentials 4-pack gives you four pieces in three different styles — the Mate for luggage handles, the Slim for a wallet, the Sticker for anything that is hard to attach to — so you can cover whatever matters across everything you are traveling with. Works with both iOS and Android, which means everyone on the trip is covered.
Tolaccea Travel Backpack 40–50L, 16" Laptop Carry On
This is the backpack I reach for when I want to check nothing. At 40 to 50 liters with a sleeve built for a 16-inch laptop, it handles a long weekend or a week if you pack with intention. It converts from a carry-on to a hiking-style pack depending on how you are moving, which means one bag covers the airport and the afternoon you land.
Anker Prime Charger, 100W 3-Port Compact Foldable USB C
One charger, three ports, 100 watts. I stopped packing a separate laptop charger and a separate phone charger the day I started using this one. The prongs fold flat so it disappears into a bag pocket, and 100W means it can charge a laptop at full speed while your phone and earbuds charge at the same time. This is the item I would buy twice just to have a backup.
Epicka 70W GaN PD Universal Travel Adapter, 3 USB-C/2 USB-A
The universal adapter I actually trust. Most universal adapters give you the plug converter and nothing else, which means you still need your charger sitting on top of it. This one has three USB-C and two USB-A ports built in, so one piece handles the plug conversion and the charging together. Works in over 200 countries, which covers most trips I book.
TESSAN 2 Pack Type E/F Plug Adapter (Schuko)
If your trip focuses on continental Europe, the Schuko plug is what you need. Type E/F covers Germany, France, Spain, the Netherlands, and most of mainland Europe, and the two-pack means both people traveling together have one. Because these are plug-only adapters without built-in charging ports, they are slim enough to live in your bag permanently as a backup, taking up almost no space either way.
tomtoc Electronics Organizer Travel Case
Think of this as a home base for your whole tech setup, not just your cords. Where a cord case is built specifically to hold cables, the tomtoc is designed for the full picture: a power bank, earbuds, a small charger, an adapter, whatever your particular tech situation requires. Everything zips into one case that lays flat inside your carry-on without taking it over.
Every trip teaches you something about what you actually need and what you packed because it seemed like a good idea at home. The list above is what stayed after a lot of trial, a lot of error, and more than a few outlets that did not work. Start with whatever solves your biggest frustration first and build from there. And if you have questions about what else goes into a well-planned trip, that is exactly what I am here for.
Happy travels.
Jen
